Cooling/Heating System

  • Types of cooling/heating Solution

  • How it works?

  • How to build one.

  • Why, where, when to use.

  • Which one is better / Conclusion.

Types of Cooling/Heating System:

  • Pots with Immersible pump. Video : Description: 8 pots aligned to create channels such that pots evaporates the water and cools down the air. This was effective, It cooled down the temp around 2.5 to 3 Degrees what was outside. Not Recommended for any type of cooling. The pots break downs particle by particle and it has high chances of clogging the pump and reducing the efficiency.

  • Pots with Fogger Sprayers. Video . Description: Foggers were used instead of running water in the pots. Cooling of up-to 2 degrees was achieved. However not recommended, the foggers clogs and has to be taken care often and the temperature drop was low.

  • Evaporative cooling pads. Video Description:  Evaporative Cooling pads with running water. Gave cooling of 3.5 to 5 degrees of Temperature down. Water requirement is good, refuelling two to three times a day is required. Recommended for a good cooling solution. Only width size which is not widely used and helpful is of 150 mm

How it works: All the three options has one similar technique, Evaporation of the water causes the air to cool around it and then carrying cool air through high volume and high rpm fan in the greenhouse.

How to build: Easiest way to build is of pvc pipe or any equipment which can hold and let air pass through evaporative cooling pads, with 125 psi pump attached on top and a water collection tray. Reference to video:

WWW - Why- Cooling/Heating depends completely on which part of the world you stay. The part of world where this documentary is carried out, requires cooling system. Cooling is necessary, so major focus stays on cooling. For heating, if required or if anyone wishes me to do it for you, do let me know. Connect

Where- Place it, near to the base such that cold air is passed from bottom to top. In this case, we have done the same. Refer Plan Image

When- It can be used only when the humidity of the outside air is low. At night and when humidity is high, this option can create good positive pressure, with additional cooling and keeping the water usage completely off.

To Conclude:

  • The First Step toward cooling is removing hot air from Inside.

  • Evaporative Cooling Pads to be used to Lower the Temperature, this is only useful when there a direction given to it. Creating a flow in the room.

  • If 37 Degree Celsius is out Temperature, with help of this 32 to 30 Degrees can be achieved, if conditions are good, it can help you achieve 28 Degrees.

Saving on Bill: If the temperature of the house can be brought to 30 Degrees, to achieve a sustainable living only 4 to 6 Degree has be lowered more, using your A/C just to lower this temperature will help save electricity and lower the bill
